CSUSB Included in Living Trust

CSUSB has been at the center of Judy and Glenn Rymer's lives for more than 80 years combined. In fact, they're one of the earliest couples who can say, "I met my mate at Cal State."

As a young faculty member teaching Spanish, Judy met Glenn in 1970 while he was studying sociology; he graduated that year and they were married in 1971. Judy's career led to faculty posts in the School of Education and leadership in the Faculty Senate, for which she served as chair. Ultimately, she was tapped by President Anthony Evans to head the new division of university relations as Executive Dean. In 1988 she became the University's first Vice President for University Relations continuing to oversee alumni affairs, public affairs, governmental relations, fundraising and athletics.

Glenn remained active as an alumnus, serving on the Coyote Athletics Association Board, helping out with Commencement and alumni activities, among many events. As a couple they were very generous donors to scholarships, athletics, the art museum and the College of Education. When Judy retired from administration she continued to teach in the College of Education and assist with its accreditation staff work.

Their deep roots with the institution led the Rymers to include CSUSB in their estate plans to benefit both scholarships for student athletes and teaching credential candidates. They also honored her parents with the naming of one of the scholarships. They were lifelong educators as well.

"We felt it was important to include an institution that had been so vital to us and to so many people I've had the good fortune to work with as students, alumni and colleagues," said Judy. "We know what a difference the University makes to the region and we continue to be proud to be associated with it."
