Founding Family's Bequests Convey Legacy

Founding Family's Bequests Convey Legacy
More than 25 years after John Pfau completed service as the founding president of Cal State San Bernardino the Pfau family announced that CSUSB is included in their various estate plans.

A fitting legacy to the man who helped to locate, build, staff and expand the San Bernardino campus during his 20-year tenure, the individual bequests will support scholarships for meritorious students and a book endowment fund - both named in John's honor.

Although his daughters, Madelaine and Elly, did not attend CSUSB they have a high regard for the mission of the institution and the quality of education it has delivered for more than four decades.

"The San Bernardino-Riverside region is enriched by the presence of the largest public university in the two-county area," said Madelaine, who joins with her husband, Charles Jones, in leaving half of their estate to the University.

"We know that the campus is a beacon for educating the workforce in the region, and we hope that its accessibility helps to increase the number of citizens who obtain a college degree in the future," she added.
